EPUB Tools Alongside iLovePDF
iLovePDF focuses on PDF operations. Its official tool documentation covers PDF merge, split, compression, Office and image conversion, signing and other PDF tasks. It does not list an EPUB-to-PDF converter or EPUB metadata, chapter or validation tools.
This comparison is written by Epublys. Use the format and the task to choose: PDF page work and EPUB book editing need different tools.
Keep iLovePDF for PDF page work
Use its PDF tools for merging PDFs, extracting or rotating pages, converting Office files, adding watermarks and signing. Epublys does not provide those PDF-only operations. EPUB-to-PDF conversion is not a substitute for a PDF editor.
Use EPUB tools for ebook editing
- Edit EPUB metadata: title, author, cover, language, publisher, description, ISBN, series and subjects.
- Validate EPUB: package structure, manifest files, spine references and optional XHTML/reference checks. Auto-fix repairs mimetype problems and a missing language; use EPUBCheck for full conformance.
- Merge and split: combine EPUB books, extract a chapter range as one EPUB, or create a ZIP with individual chapter EPUBs.
- Compress: repack the ZIP and optionally remove unused assets. The website can also resize and re-encode images in your browser; review those lossy changes before distributing the result.
- Convert: EPUB to PDF, PDF to EPUB, EPUB to and from Markdown, and Word DOCX to EPUB.
What conversion does not preserve
Epublys' EPUB-to-PDF tool makes a new page layout using bundled fonts. It can carry text and supported pictures across, but complex CSS and fixed-layout pages do not retain their exact geometry. PDF-to-EPUB extracts existing text and has no OCR; scanned documents need OCR first. Review a sample result in your destination reader.
