Frequently asked questions
- How do chapters work?
- One uploaded Markdown file becomes one chapter, in the order you arrange them. The chapter title comes from the file's first heading (or its filename), and links between your .md files are rewritten so they keep working inside the book.
- Does it understand Obsidian syntax?
- Yes, the parts that matter for a book: YAML frontmatter is read for title/author and stripped from the output, [[wikilinks]] become their display text, and ![[embeds]] are removed. Everything else is standard Markdown (CommonMark + tables, code blocks, task lists).
- Do I need Pandoc installed?
- No. Upload the Markdown files through this browser interface; our servers build the EPUB in memory and return it without storing your files. Pandoc is one local alternative if you prefer a command-line workflow.
- What about images in my Markdown?
- Not yet. Image references degrade to their alt text in this version. Add a cover afterwards with the metadata editor, which supports cover upload.
